To increase their mechanical stability, media for residential heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) filters are laminated with a wire mesh. Jowat supplies Jowatherm 262.65 for this purpose. The company says that the hot-melt adhesive is transparent, demonstrates good melt behaviour and can be processed quickly, making it compatible with high-speed production lines. It is universally compatible with all established filter media, including those made from glass fibres and nanofibres, and nonwovens made from polypropylene (PP) and polyester (PES). Further, it can be processed at temperatures of about 170°C, rather than 210°C, which reduces the presence of charred particles in application systems and enables longer maintenance intervals.
Jowatherm PO 264.30 is a polyolefin hot-melt adhesive that can be used in pleating and frame-bonding operations. Jowat says that, by combining high initial strength with high flexibility, the adhesive helps manufacturers reduce the complexity of their production processes.
Jowat has developed Jowatherm PUR MR 614.70 for use in activated-carbon binding. Its open time of around 20 minutes facilitates precise processes and is characterised by very low fogging and emissions, and a neutral odour.
For pocket filter seam sealing, Jowat supplies Jowatherm 264.10, a hot-melt adhesive that has a short open time, sets quickly and has a tack-free surface.
Filtech 2026 will take place in Cologne, Germany, on 30 June–2 July.
