Researchers in Germany have succeeded in making biodegradable, mechanically stable and elastic flocks for use as scaffolds in tissue growth. They add that they can adjust the properties of the scaffolds - which they make from a single, chitosan-based material - and that the high strength makes them suitable for the growth of articular cartilage.
