A wound dressing for use with heavily exudating wounds is disclosed in US Patent 8 118 793 by Paul Hartmann. The dressing (30) features a medicinal composition (33) or an ointment comprising a hydrophilic base into which hydrocolloids are dispersed. These hydrocolloids comprise at least one releasable, wound healing substance, with the hydrophilic base comprising at least one emulsifier.
