SeaCell Active shows antifungal and antibacterial properties

A cellulose and seaweed-based fibre that slowly releases silver ions could have applications in medical textiles and hygiene products, such as compression stockings and burns bandages.

SeaCell Active is a silver-containing lyocell fibre that claims health-promoting effects through the incorporation of powdered seaweed. The fibre is produced using a lyocell process developed by Zimmer AG in cooperation with its subsidiary SeaCell GmbH (formerly Alceru Schwarza) in Rudolstadt, Germany.
