Wearable devices were everywhere at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) held in Las Vegas from January 6-9. It's clear that the consumer electronics industry wants activity tracking and body monitoring to become the next compulsive displacement activity to follow scrolling through Facebook or checking emails. Despite the buzz and hype around such events, it's still far from clear that there's much consumer enthusiasm for these products beyond specialised sports circles. But when even the UK tabloid newspaper the Daily Mirror lists its top ten favourite wearable technologies, it's clear the industry and media are opting to prise open a mass market by brute force.
