Scientists Caroline Schauer and Marjorie Austero of Drexel University in Philadelphia have been electrospinning crosslinked chitosan with carbon black. Composite fibrous assembles of nanoparticle-biopolymer fibres are useful for filtration, sensing and tissue-engineering applications.
