In 2009, production of nonwovens in Greater Europe (Western, Central and Eastern Europe, Turkey and the Commonwealth of Independent States) amounted to 1.6 million tonnes, a fall of 6.3% by weight compared with the previous year. This compares with a 1.2% growth in 2008, reports EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries.
