Teijin plans to shift the production of polyester staple fibre used to make diapers and sanitary products from Japan to Thailand. The move, part of the Japanese group's efforts to turn around its struggling polyester fibre operations, is intended to improve cost-competitiveness by reducing personnel expenses, as well as to put Teijin in a better position to supply Japanese hygiene product makers as they expand into Asia.
