Researchers in Germany have developed a coating that they claim allows adult human stem cells to colonize the surface fibres of textile implants. The scientist from the Institute for Hygiene and Biotechnology (IHB) at the Hohenstein Institutes, Bonnigheim, Germany, believe their breakthrough could open up far-reaching therapeutic possibilities for regenerative medicine.
