Global demand for nonwoven fabrics is projected to climb by 6.9% a year and rise to 8 million tonnes in 2012, according to a new study by the Freedonia Group. By application, the hygiene market, which includes medical uses and diapers, is expected to grow. By market, demand in advancing countries, such as China, India, Turkey and Russia, is also expected to expand. China will account for 36% of all additional demand by 2012 and is expected to take the USA's position as the largest nonwoven fabric market in the world.
