Recent health scares - such as last year's bird flu, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) in 2003 and now swine flu - only add to the urgency to provide cheap and effective barrier filtration to prevent or delay the spread of viruses, according to a US manufacturer of nonwovens. By configuring existing proven media, Monadnock Non-Wovens has combined various weights of polypropylene nonwoven media from 107.6-269.1 g.m-2 (10 to 25 g a square foot) with low air resistance to meet this challenge.
