A medical dressing comprising a complex of silver for the treatment of chronic wounds is disclosed in US Patent 7 329 417 by Coloplast. The dressing is claimed to be capable of rendering silver ions available sufficiently and quickly and in a sufficiently high and lasting concentration to ensure an effective antiseptic activity is obtained. Further, it ensures the silver ions will not be released unintentionally from the dressing.
