An Italian sock manufacturer has been investigating the deposition of aerogels on yarns in order to improve their thermal insulation. Megatex of Melissano has developed a novel way to make the aerogels,which is simpler and cheaper than previously known methods that have limited the use of aerogels to very high-technology applications.
