A sewing machine capable of sewing reinforcing wire to tubular grafts to form vascular stent-grafts has been developed by Anson Medical, the Cardiovascular Devices Division of Lombard Medical Technologies. Described in US Patent 7 290 494, the invention allows the metal reinforcing rings of the device to be attached by sutures that are applied with a computer-controlled sewing machine.
