    Durable flame-retardant polyester

In European Patent EP 1 857 586, the applicant Daihachi Chemical Industry Co Ltd – a manufacturer of flame retardants, plasticizers and agents for metal extraction, with headquarters in Osaka – says its method is to impregnate polyester fibres with a liquid flame retardant containing phosphorus. The resulting fibres also have an excellent affinity to dyes, good light fastness and high rubbing fastness. Also, because the flame retardant does not contain halogens that generate compounds harmful to the environment when burned, its use is more acceptable.
