A method and apparatus for making a braided intraluminal implant has been developed by Surpass Medical. According to the company of Tel Aviv, Israel, contact of a braided tubular implant with the body vessel wall is enhanced if the outer ends of the braided tube are outwardly flared using conventional, vertical "maypole" type braiding machines.
