    US engineers probe spider polymer

    A team of engineers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, has identified key physical processes that give spider silk its unrivalled strength and durability. This could lead to the development of spinning artificial spider silk, which has potential for use in artificial tendons and ligaments and sutures, as well as parachutes and bullet-proof vests.
