Protection offered by flexible body armour can be improved by as much as 30% by using p-phenylene-2,6-benzobisoaxole (PBO) fibre (Zylon) from Toyobo Co of Japan.However, according to a Canadian manufacturer of safety products, a problem is that the material tends to lose effectiveness when subjected to heat and humidity, ultimately potentially endangering the life of the garment's wearer.
