A "breakaway" leg sling is outlined in US Patent 6 837 862 by John Allen Driver of Warner Robins, Georgia, USA. The device is said to support the single leg of a patient in a rearward, suspended state while the patient is standing on his/her other leg, thereby preventing weight bearing.
