SouthWest NanoTechnologies, based in Norman, Oklahoma, has developed a new fabric called nanoPly. It is layered with large quantities of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) that can either be electrically-conductive - suitable for sensing in structural composite applications - or formulated to enhance composite structure strength. The pre-fabricated nanoPly product eliminates the on-site mixing of resins and nanotubes to minimise safety concerns and viscosity issues.
