A future car's bodywork could also double-up as its battery as a result of a new carbon composite material with nanotubes grown on its surface. The material, which can store and discharge electrical energy and is also strong and lightweight enough to be used for car parts, is being developed by researchers from Imperial College London and their European partners, including Volvo, as part of a new Euro3.4 million project.
