    Woven leather for airline fleet savings

    A major airline like Lufthansa could save between $3-3.5 million a year in replacing the leather seats of its fleet of planes with an alternative fabric, according to Austrian contract furnishings specialist Baumann Dekor. With this in mind, the company has been developing what it terms ‘woven leather’ for the past year – a woven material designed to replicate the properties of natural leather as closely as possible, while taking out much of the weight.
