Intelligent textiles will have a major part to play in the rapidly advancing field of robotics, and particularly in allowing robots to take on the form and features of human skin, according to David Lussey of Peratech. Speaking at the fifth 'How to Enter Technical Textiles Symposium' in Edinburgh, Scotland, on 16 October, Mr Lussey explained that a non-linear sensing capability is achieved on or within a textile structure by coating them with electrically conductive nanoparticles, or by incorporating the nanoparticles into the fibres or yarns.
