Smart textiles and nanotechnology were very much to the fore at the fourth annual public conference of the European Technology Platform (ETP) for the Future of Textiles and Clothing. Held in Brussels, Belgium, from April 1-2, the two-day event showcased the progress made by over 30 collaborative textile research projects which have been announced by the ETP since its establishment in 2004. These represent a funding commitment of around Euro220 million, of which about Euro150 million is being contributed by the European Commission as part of its 6th and 7th Framework investment programmes.
