A precise biosensor for detecting blood glucose and potentially many other biological molecules has been developed by anchoring hollow single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to gold-coated 'nanocubes'. The nanocube acts as the SWCNT as both a tether and ultrathin wire to conduct electrical signals, explained Timothy Fisher, a Purdue University professor of mechanical engineering who has been involved in the development.
