Konarka Technologies - the developer of Power Plastic which converts light into energy - is to head a consortium which will attempt to significantly increase the lifespan of organic solar cells (OSCs) with the goal of yielding competitive organic photovoltaics (OPVs) for potential commercial use. The OPV Stability project will receive funding of almost Euro2.5 million from Germany's Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) over the next three years.
