Philips Research is to pilot a new bed with built-in sensors and the ability to measure heart rate, breathing rate and body movement of a patient as they sleep. The Amsterdam-headquartered organisation will lead a new European Union-funded research project aimed at improving care of heart patients through the development of new telemonitoring solutions. Following the highly successful MyHeart project, the latest HeartCycle project started on March 1 and will be one of the largest biomedical and healthcare research projects within the EU.
