    Collaborative research on future clothing
Pictured presenting their designs at the end of the three week collaborative research project are Teija Pietkainen, who is studying Fashion Design at Newport, Chris Lewis, a designer of military and survival wear who plans to do an MA in sportswear at Newport, and Mona Engman, a textile design student from Göteborg in Sweden.

Garments incorporating hi-tech computerised technology with intelligent textiles were designed by students from Sweden, Finland, Spain, England and Wales as part of a collaborative research project hosted by the University of Wales, Newport. The students spent three weeks on the collaborative EU-intensive programme creating blueprints for a diverse range of futuristic clothing – including sportswear, corporate wear and action clothing aimed at the rapidly expanding older population –merging textile and garment design with interactive electronics and computing.
